The National Renewable Energy Centre of Spain (CENER) is a leading technology centre dedicated to applied research and technological development in renewable energy. It provides technological support to companies and public institutions in the fields of wind energy, solar thermal and photovoltaic systems, biomass, energy transition in cities, grid integration, electrical storage and hydrogen.

CENER combines the development of R&D&i projects for industrial application with advanced testing, certification services and technical feasibility studies for renewable energy technologies.

Within DESIREE, CENER is represented through its Hydrogen Area, specifically the HyGrIn Lab, a multipurpose laboratory equipped with advanced facilities for the development and validation of high- and low-temperature hydrogen technologies.

The Instituto de Nanociencia y Materiales de Aragón (INMA) is a joint research centre established by the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) and the Universidad de Zaragoza. In DESIREE, INMA represents partner CSIC and affiliated entity Universidad de Zaragoza in the implementation of the project, serving as the operational research unit for both institutions.

The institute carries out research, training, transfer and dissemination activities in nanoscience and materials science and technology, promoting a strongly interdisciplinary approach. INMA aims to advance research and technological development in nanoscience, nanotechnology and materials science, strengthening its international projection while contributing to both fundamental knowledge and the resolution of concrete societal challenges.

The company aims to industrialise the manufacture of high-temperature electrolysers to enable large-scale production of low-carbon hydrogen and support industrial decarbonisation

Within DESIREE, Genvia contributes industrial expertise in high-temperature electrolysis, stack development and pathways towards industrial-scale deployment.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research (ISC) is recognised as a leading European hub for materials-focused research and development in the fields of energy, environment and health. With approximately 380 employees, the institute develops innovative materials and technologies for sustainable products and processes.

ISC is part of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and combines strong expertise in materials science with extensive experience in manufacturing, processing and upscaling to pilot scale, particularly in high-temperature materials and applications relevant to the hydrogen economy.

Within DESIREE, ISC works alongside the Fraunhofer Center for High Temperature Materials and Design (HTL), contributing complementary expertise in high-temperature materials and related processes.

Bosal is an international manufacturer operating in the energy and mobility sectors, with 17 industrial sites, 12 distribution centres, 7 R&D centres and approximately 2,500 employees worldwide. The company develops and manufactures emission control systems and structural components for automotive and energy applications.

Within DESIREE, Bosal contributes industrial manufacturing capabilities and system integration expertise relevant to high-temperature electrolysis technologies.

Bosal subsidiary Bosal Energy acts as an affiliated entity and contributes to the development of high-efficiency heat exchanger systems, supporting thermal management and heat recovery integration within the prototype.

EIFHYTEC is a European industrial company with sites in Strasbourg and Haguenau (France). The company develops innovative H2 compressors. The team of engineers, technicians and scientists has expertise in mechanics, electrochemistry, thermodynamics and electronics. Drawing on over 15 years of research, they are developing hydrogen compressors with no moving parts based on metal hydrides for a wide range of industrial and transport applications.

Within DESIREE, EIFHYTEC develops a metal hydride compressor to be integrated into the innovative SOEL system to increase the overall system performance.

In DESIREE, CEA participates through CEA-Liten, the Laboratory for Innovation in New Energy Technologies and Nanomaterials, which specialises in low-carbon energy systems and advanced materials. CEA-Liten contributes expertise in high-temperature electrolysis technologies and system optimisation.
